LAL Cape Town joined the LAL group in 1996, and is a busy school in the residential suburb of Sea Point.
Our mission is to provide the perfect environment for our students to learn and practise English while enjoying the characteristics and culture of each country.
We understand that you may want to know more about us and what we do, so we have prepared this page to give you some further information. We would invite you to read it carefully as it may be referred to in an interview.
What we do
LAL Cape Town runs English courses for students for Young Learners aged 13-17 and also for adults. We offer high quality courses that are accredited by Education South Africa. We also provide a compulsory leisure programme for Young Learners and optional excursions for Adults, as well as taking part in a range of events and sports competitions: this is part of our core principle that our students should enjoy a full cultural experience as well as classroom time, which is why LAL stands for ‘Language And Leisure’.
Our school can teach up to 200 students per week, though the number of students in the school will vary throughout the year. Our busiest periods are winter and summer, corresponding with school holidays in the southern and northern hemispheres, and this is when we offer most seasonal positions.
Our team of teachers are supported by the administration of the Academic Department, who devise and control the courses. Our Student Services team consists of Welfare, Accommodation and Leisure staff.
Why work for us
We offer a wide range of jobs, from teaching to administration and leisure staff, and employ full-time and seasonal personnel. We have a long-held reputation as a language school that takes our work and responsibilities seriously, offering excellent courses, pastoral care and leisure programmes, with staff who are dedicated to what they do. Although our busy times can be periods of high pressure, we have a high number of returning seasonal staff, and a low turnover of permanent staff thanks to a strong team spirit and sense of responsibility.
We are a company that assists and encourages its staff with our comprehensive management team. We welcome and support newly qualified teachers but also give experienced teachers their own freedom in the classroom; and we always look for the most enthusiastic, energetic and motivated administration, activities and welfare staff.
